This is the story of Erwin Rommel – the Desert Fox of legend – and his battles with General Montgomery. Sent with his specially trained Afrika Korps to stem the Italian retreat, Rommel succeeded in driving the British back to the Egyptian border. After the heroic defence of Tobruk, the fighting ebbed and flowed until the great British victory at El Alamein. The events of the Desert War were central to the outcome of the entire Second World War. Featuring archive footage, informative maps and graphics, and an interview with the Rt Hon Viscount Montgomery of El Alamein CBE. Narrated by Michael Leighton.
